Ankle & Foot Scan

£129

This scan is available to men and women from the age of 16 years.

Pain & discomfort in the ankle and foot can often be difficult to pinpoint, as there are many small joints, tendons, ligaments and soft tissues in this area. MSK scans (musculoskeletal) offers a dynamic and detailed evaluation of the ankle and foot, allowing for the assessment of structures that may not be clearly visible on static imaging such as X-rays. From tendon injuries to joint inflammation, bursitis, plantar fasciitis and nerve problems, ultrasound scans provide a clear picture that helps guide effective treatment. Our team of qualified sonographers ensures that each scan is thorough, comfortable and tailored to your specific needs.

An ankle & foot scan is a safe, non-invasive ultrasound providing real time images of both bones and soft tissues, making it a highly effective tool for diagnosing a wide range of conditions. At Ultrasound Care, we offer a private ankle & foot scan for men and women aged 16 and over, performed by fully qualified sonographers at your local clinic.

Ankle & Foot Scan Procedure

There is no preparation that is required before an ankle & foot scan. You will simply be asked to remove your footwear and socks for this ultrasound scan. Comfortable clothing that allows easy access to the ankle is recommended. Occasionally, the opposite foot may be scanned for comparison.

During an ankle & foot scan, one of our qualified sonographers will:

  1. Ask about your symptoms and the history of your condition
  2. Position your ankle and foot for optimal imaging
  3. You will have a water-based gel applied to the area to ensure clear images
  4. A high frequency ultrasound probe will be used to examine soft tissues, tendons, ligaments, joints and surrounding structures
  5. Perform dynamic assessments, which may include moving your ankle or foot to evaluate how structures function in real-time.

The scan is painless, non-invasive, and typically takes around 20-30 minutes, in some cases, both feet may be scanned for comparison.

Following your scan, the sonographer will review the images and provide you with a report that can be discussed further with your GP. It is your responsibility to share these results with your healthcare provider, as we do not communicate directly with your doctor or manage your ongoing care.
