The Human Body Through A Diagnostic Lens

It is very rare that you can see the human body in such finite detail unless you are looking for something specific in a medical capacity. Diagnostic ultrasound scans are a way of taking an in-depth look at the human body and how it is functioning.

More often than not, you will be referred for a diagnostic scan if your GP recommends it based on a medical reasoning; however, with Ultrasound Care, you can arrange your private ultrasound scan if you feel you have a concern.

What Are the Most Common Diagnostic Ultrasound Scans?

There are a number of scans that can be performed via ultrasound from the head right through to the toes. Although ultrasound scans are most commonly associated with pregnancy, they are key in diagnostics, giving you the insight needed to identify any potential problems and find the best steps when looking ahead.

Ultrasound Care offers a range of scans for the lower half of your body in particular, including a range of gynaecology, women’s health scans, and men’s scans.

But which scans are the most common in diagnostic ultrasound scans?

Deep Vein Thrombosis, commonly known as DVT, occurs in the legs and happens when there is a blood clot in a deep vein. A diagnostic ultrasound is used to visualise the clot, locating it before treatment options can be recommended to you by your GP.

Aortic Surveillance Scans are used to monitor the aorta when a patient is at higher risk of an aortic aneurysm. The aorta is the main artery that carries blood from the heart to the rest of your body; a bulge may result in a rupture if not seen to and treated correctly by your GP.

For men, having a scrotal/ testicular scan can be important. We understand that finding a lump can be very worrying but having a scrotal/ testicular scan is very quick, easy and 100% painless with immediate answers. Should be find swelling or pain in your testicles, or have a history of testicular cancer, it is important to book your scrotal/ testicular scan.

Gynaecology Scans are used as an assessment for women’s reproductive organs. Should there be any pain or bleeding that is unexpected or if you are trying to conceive, you can book a private ultrasound to check the health of your fallopian tubes, ovaries, and uterus. Ultrasound offer a range of gynaecology scans for anomalies, fertility, and well-being.
